What is Orthodontic Treatment with Aligners?
  • In our clinic, we use a system of removable aligners designed to straighten teeth.
  • Nearly invisible and removable, aligners are changed every 7-14 days.
  • They’re custom-made for your teeth.
  • With each change, teeth gradually move according to the treatment plan, developed by the orthodontist.
Advantages of Aligner Treatment
  • Nearly invisible, doesn’t affect social life
  • Digitally planned, with the possibility to visualize future results
  • Fewer, shorter visits
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Easier hygiene maintenance and lower dental cavity risk
  • Suitable for contact sports and musicians
Who are aligners meant for?
  • Adults and also children in mixed and permanent dentition
Who may not be suitable for aligners?
  • Those who are unsure about consistently wearing a removable appliance or struggle with self-discipline.
  • Not recommended for patients with difficulty maintaining good oral hygiene.
  • Raske sügavhambumusega patsientidele. Need reageerivad ravile paremini breketite kasutamisel.
How to start treatment?
  • Ensure your teeth are healthy and clean before the consultation or diagnostic visit! Please schedule a check-up with your dentist and, if needed, a hygiene clean beforehand.
  • After consultation and diagnostics, the orthodontist will create a treatment plan and specify the cost.
  • The first set of aligners will be ordered after treatment plan discussion./li>
  • During the treatment start appointment, attachments will be placed on the teeth, and instructions will be provided.
How long do aligners need to be worn daily?
  • Wear aligners for 21–22 hours daily. They should only be removed for eating, drinking (except water), and brushing.
  • Do not keep your aligners out for more than 30 minutes at a time.
  • Consistent wear ensures planned tooth movement and timely treatment progress.
What Not to Do with Aligners in Place?
  • Eat
  • Chew gum
  • Drink hot beverages
  • Clench teeth
What to Drink with Aligners In?
Water only.
How Do Aligners Affect Speech?
You might notice a lisp at first, which usually fades within 1-7 days as your tongue adjusts.
What to do If an aligner breaks or Is lost?
Try inserting the next aligner. Inform us of the issue. Use a “chewie” to help the aligner fit better. Wear the aligner longer to compensate for the missed days. If the next aligner doesn’t fit, contact us promptly.
How to contact us?

Our preferred and most efficient communication method is our website’s online chat, where you can ask both administrative and treatment-related questions.

We primarily use the phone for sharing important information or discussing treatment issues. Due to limited team resources, we may not always answer calls immediately.

You can also email us or connect through social media platforms.

How to book a visit?
Please use our online booking system. We’ve tried to present appointment types as clearly as possible. If unsure about the visit type or if you need additional information, feel free to message us—we’ll be happy to assist!
Can I choose the doctor for My Appointment?
We work as a team. Dr. Petšjonkina focuses mainly on treatment planning, while Dr. Paalberg is responsible for patient care in the clinic. Together, we ensure the best care and outcome for your treatment!
What happens during a routine Check-up?

A routine check-up is a short appointment where we assess aligner fit, patient compliance, oral hygiene, and tooth movement. Occasionally, we perform interproximal enamel reduction or adjust attachments as needed.

Additional visits for emergency care are available if necessary.

If you wish to consult the doctor between scheduled visits, you can book a paid interim consultation.

Do you also treat young children?

Absolutely! Early treatment often helps create better conditions for jaw development and the eruption of permanent teeth. For instance, if a child has a narrow upper jaw, we start by expanding the upper arch before aligner treatment to ensure the best results.

Please note: We currently do not have a contract with Tervisekassa, so all orthodontic services for children are paid.

Retention: Why Is It Important?
Retention is the post-treatment phase where teeth are kept in the correct position. This is crucial because, without retention, teeth may shift back to their original position. Retention appliances, like nighttime aligners or wire retainers, ensure long-lasting results and a beautiful smile.
Can all orthodontic issues be treated with aligners?
There are always exceptions, but most orthodontic problems can be addressed with aligners. Often, we use additional elements like hooks, elastics, and, occasionally, other supports, such as temporary orthodontic micro-implants or partial braces on back teeth. In more complex cases, aligner treatment may be combined with orthognathic surgery.
How to clean aligners?
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a cleaning solution for aligners. Mild, unscented liquid soap or gentle washing-up liquid also works. Brush aligners twice daily, inside and out. Rinse thoroughly after each meal.
What to do with used aligners?
Keep all aligners at home, as they may be needed during treatment. Once treatment is complete, they can be discarded.
